For a regional contest last thanksgiving, the store with the highest comp sales % was to win turkeys for every associate in the winning store, including management. Our store won the contest, however since we do not eat turkey in our home i simply told my manager(before these feathered friends were even ordered) that i did not need one, and it would be wasted on me, please give it to an associate or to charity.
Well instead of doing one of the above mentioned things, he kept telling me to go pick up my turkey and that it was waiting for me. I refused to pick it up so out of “the kindness of his heart” he went and picked it up for me on one of the days i was closing the store.
Thus when i walked into my office on my desk waiting for me for the last 6 hours de-thawing all over my papers was my friend the turkey. Now since i was closing and this creature would not fit in our small freezer, it continued to sit for another 10 hrs. after we closed the store, since the bird was now unedible, i let the associates kick it around the parking lot and abandon it in mr. scott’s usual parking space.
